UT and ITN Malang Agreed to Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Indonesia Open University or Universitas Terbuka (UT) and University of National Technology Institute or Institut Teknologi Nasional (ITN) Malang agree to enter into cooperation in order to realize the Three Principles of Higher Education Institution or Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. It is marked with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UT’s Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., and Rector of ITN Malang, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Abraham Lomi, MSEE., which was done online on Thursday, 17 June 2021.

The Rector of ITN Malang said that he welcome the collaboration between UT and ITN Malang and it is expected that the collaboration can done anytime soon. He also appreciated the UT’s accomplishment with its high number of students as well as the networks that UT has from Sabang to Merauke. Through this cooperation, it is expected that ITN Malang would be able to hold its open and distance education (PJJ), like UT. He also has no doubt with the UT’s capability to organize open and distance education (PJJ). 

In his remarks, UT’s Rector welcomed the cooperation with ITN Malang which is expected to give some blessing for the people as well as to give the contribution to the success in achieving the government’s vision and mission, which is develop the quality of human resources in Indonesia that is competent. Through open and distance education (PJJ), it is expected that it would accommodate a great number of students. However, the number of UT’s students is thought to be still low compared to the number of students of Indira Gandhi National Open University which is currently serving 4 million of students. Since 36 years ago, UT has successfully organized higher education at affordable costs and yet maintaining its education quality for its students. UT’s Rector hopes that education for all, quality education, can be enjoyed by all the people throughout Indonesia.
