The alliance between Universitas Terbuka (UT) and PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia Persero Tbk. (BRI) is further strengthened as they collaborate to enhance banking services. Although UT and BRI are two separate entities, their shared mission is to serve the Indonesian population, including those residing in remote areas from Sabang to Merauke.
In an endeavour to strengthen its partnership network, Universitas Terbuka (UT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). The MoU was signed by UT Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., and the Secretary General of KLHK, Dr. Ir. Bambang Hendroyono, M.M.
As universities that both implement distance learning systems, UT and Wawasan Open University (WOU) actively participate in the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), AAOU itself is an association of open and distance learning higher education institutions in Asia, where UT Rector, Prof.
Universitas Terbuka (UT) is the only state university that applies distance learning system (PJJ) with online pedagogic methods. In providing its services, UT has 39 regional offices or usually called UT’s Regional Office (UPBJJ-UT) which are located across Indonesia.
As state university that implements distance education system (PJJ), Universitas Terbuka (UT) has its regional offices in order to reach out its students and provide education services across the country. Currently, there are 39 UT’s regional offices, which are usually referred Universitas Terbuka’s Regional Office (UPBJJ-UT).
The mandate of the government of Indonesia in educating the nation and people is to produce highly competent, creative, independent human resources through distance and open learning system, and therefore, a number of institutions look to Universitas Terbuka in order to realize their target goals as mandate above.
Entering its 38th years anniversary, UT will remain committed and innovative in realizing the higher education mission for all. The expansion of accessibility for the education service is the main priority of UT consideration to serve the people both in Indonesia and overseas.
As the pioneer of distance learning (PJJ) operation, Universitas Terbuka (UT) is ready to assist human resource (HR) capacity building by opening the access to higher education for the people of Indonesia, and simultaneously, promoting better Gross Enrollment Rate or Angka Partisipasi Kasar (APK) for higher education.
Universitas Terbuka is the only State University that applies distance learning system by online pedagogic method. One of the Universitas Terbuka’s visions is to promote the human resource competence of the people of Indonesia, and in order to realize such goal, Universitas Terbuka has its representatives in each local region.
“The Airline of Indonesia, Reaching Out the Unreached or Menjangkau yang Tidak Terjangkau”. This is the slogan of Garuda Indonesia and Universitas Terbuka which started cooperation on Friday, 24 June 2022.
