With Spirit of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, Universitas Terbuka Signed MoU with Local Government of Manggarai Barat Regency

Universitas Terbuka (UT) is the only state university that applies distance learning system (PJJ) with online pedagogic methods. In providing its services, UT has 39 regional offices or usually called UT’s Regional Office (UPBJJ-UT) which are located across Indonesia. UPBJJ offices in local regions provide wider opportunity as well as provide equitable access to higher education which has good quality and is affordable as well as accessible. This time, UT together with the Government of the Regency of Manggarai Barat agree to execute an MoU on Three Principles of Higher Education Institution (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi). In this opportunity, it is expected that UT and the Government of the Regency of Manggarai Barat would be able to promote the capacity building of human resources and help the local governments in study, research, and development of regional institutions. In the near future, it is planned that the derivate of accessory agreement to the MoU will be realized and entered into in form of Memorandum of Agreements or Cooperation Agreements with the relevant Local Government Organizations or Agencies or Organisasi Perangkat Daerah (OPD) which is for more technical matters, in form of Whistleblowing System (WBS) application, called e-SIDAK as well as risk-based Annual Supervisory Work Program or Program Kerja Pengawasan Tahunan (PKPT) berbasis risiko, so called e-SIPADAR to the Government of the Regency Manggarai Barat.

The signing of the agreement was done by Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., the Rector of Universitas Terbuka and Edistasius Endi, S.E., the Regent of Manggarai Barat. The activity was held at the Office of the Regent of Manggarai Barat on 19 August 2022.

Mister Edi appreciates and expresses his gratitude to the UT’s Rector and Civitas Academics who have formed the cooperation and granted the two applications. "Thank you for UT’s friendship and care. The UT’s Rector and Civitas Academics are those who are called upon and willing to build and guide us, may in the days to come, the human resources in this Super Priority Tourism areas or Daerah Pariwisata Super Prioritas (DPSP) are truly superior,” said the Regent of Manggarai Barat.

In his address, Prof. Ojat sees Manggarai Barat as the area of DPSP which is very potential. For the purpose of the capacity building and qualification upgrading of the human resources in the area, a campus is needed that will provide the flexibility in the course of the study. According to him, UT is the solution for the civil servants or ASN or workers who do have time to do their classroom university study. “They do not have to leave their jobs in order to study in university. UT is here to knocks on the students’ door that will provide higher education services with good quality and affordability. It is not the students who come to the campus’ door, but UT that comes to the students, instead”, said UT’s Rector.
