Microcredential: A New Breakthrough in Education!

In its commitment to providing access to education for all, Indonesia Cyber Education Institute (ICEi) hosted the "The 24th Cyber Education Forum (CEF)" event. Focusing on the topic of "Microcredential," the event took place on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, and was live-streamed via Zoom and UT TV YouTube channel.

 

This highly anticipated event featured two expert speakers. First, Mike Feerick, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Alison, one of the world's largest platforms for learning and skills training. Second, Prof. T. Chan Basaruddin from the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia.

The opening address was delivered by Rahmat Budiman, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Business. In his remarks, he emphasized how Microcredential has revolutionized our understanding of education, providing solutions to the ever-changing demands of the job market. Microcredential offers opportunities for everyone to experience formal education without being limited by time or financial constraints.

 

During his presentation, Mike Feerick discussed the development of education and Alison's perspective on the future of Microcredential. He highlighted how online education, especially Microcredential, will lead the world of education due to its various advantages. Alison itself is one of the world's largest platforms for free online learning.

Prof. Chan presented on the development, potential, and challenges of implementing Microcredential in Indonesia. The discussion provided insights into how Microcredential can benefit the education landscape in Indonesia.

 

The event was highly interactive, with enthusiastic audience participation during the Q&A session. This participatory spirit demonstrated the importance of the Microcredential topic in facing future education challenges.
