UT Signed a Cooperation Agreement with Kemendesa PDTT

Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration or Kementerian Desa, Pembangunan Daerah Tertinggal dan Transmigrasi (Kemendesa PDTT) of the Republic of Indonesia through the Directorate General of Development and Promotion of Transmigration Regions (PPK Trans) held a Transmigration Communication Forum (Forkasi) Region II of 2021 titled “Revitalization of Transmigration Regions Supports Village SDGs " at The Sultan Hotel & Residence, Thursday (27/5/2021).

The forum was initiated by the opening remarks of Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia, Drs. A. Halim Iskandar, M.Pd. Gus Menteri, the people personally refers him to, explained that transmigration would continue to exist with the purposes of the growth and distribution of the development throughout Indonesia. He appreciated the ministries and agencies that have involved in the management of transmigration as they have created better life for the transmigrants. He also added that the transmigration does not always open up new settlement locations but, instead, it may be in form of village revitalization which is expected to allow the villages to develop as well as to provide other greater benefits.

At such forum, a Cooperation Agreement was also signed by Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (KemendesaPDTT) and a number of universities. Indonesia Open University or Universitas Terbuka (UT), as one of the state universities, agrees to establish the collaboration with the Directorate General of the Accelerated Development of Disadvantaged Regions. This cooperation is intended to develop human resources in villages. It will be implemented in form of the certification programs for the teachers of early child education in the Regency of Sorong.

The Cooperation Agreement was signed by Head of the Institute of Research and Community Services of Universitas Terbuka (LPPM-UT), Dra. Dewi Artati Padmo Putri, M.A., Ph.D., and Director General of the Accelerated Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Ir. Eko Sri Haryanto, M.M, in the presence of the UT’s Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M. Bus., Ph.D.
