UT and Ministry of Research and Technology/BRIN Agreed To Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Indonesia Open University or Universitas Terbuka (UT) once again gained trust from the government institutions. Previously, it signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of State Secretary, and now, MOU is signed with Ministry of Research and Technology/National Agency for Research and Innovation (Kemenristek/BRIN) which agrees to work together with UT in developing the resources of science and technology.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Research and Technology/National Agency for Research and Innovation (Kemenristek/BRIN) and UT was executed by the Secretary of Ministry of Research and Technology/Chief Secretary of National Agency for Research and Innovation, Dr. Mego Pinandito, M.Eng. and the Rector of UT, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., on Monday, 9 November 2020 at the Campus of the Center for Education and Training of Ministry of Research and Technology/National Agency for Research and Innovation (Pusdiklat Kemenristek/BRIN), Tangerang Selatan.

In his speech, Mego stated that the acceleration for the research development and innovation in Indonesia to speed up Indonesia’s economic growth. It is expected that this cooperation would be able to support the government’s tasks in science and technology development nationally. Mego warmly appreciated UT that has successfully implemented Distance Education or Pendidikan Jarak Jauh (PJJ) since 36 years ago.

In the mean time, Ojat sincerely welcomed the implementation of such cooperation which can support the online training as well as give advantages among the government institutions and ultimately, the whole nation. The technology advancement is not meant to replace the instructors or lecturers, yet it is a complementary in perfecting the quality of better education. In promoting the national digital ecosystem, technical support and instructors’ assistance have to get along, and therefore they can be synergized to ensure effectiveness in providing education.
