Seskoad Explores UT LMS System

The Covid-19 Pandemics does not prevent Universitas Terbuka (UT) from opening its door for any institutions to enter into cooperation in distance education (PJJ). UT hosted the visit by the School of Staff and Command of Indonesian Army (Seskoad) virtually via Zoom platform on Friday, 23 July 2021. The meeting is intended to discuss research instrument testing on the urgency of Learning Management System (LMS) application.

Starting the meeting, the UT’s Vice Rector for Institutional Development and Partnership, Rahmat Budiman, M.Hum., Ph.D., warmly welcomed the cooperation plan of Seskoad and UT. Colonel Inf. Fakhrudin stated that Seskoad would begin to use LMS in the Indonesian Army or Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Darat (TNI AD). He hopes that the partnership to be established will become the instrument to ease the TNI members to pursue their education online. He hopes that the learning materials and process can be formulated and prepared in accordance with the needs of the TNI AD members.

The Head of Information and Communication Technology Unit, Dimas Agung Prasetyo, S.Kom., M.Sc., explained that technology can provide assistance in learning process as it provides assistance or facility to have virtual interaction. UT is currently using Moodle method as its LMS and integrated with various UT’s main systems UT. Moodle is selected because its flexibility and ease to integrate with various other application resources. Therefore, Dimas emphasized that e-learning has become the foundation that can be adjusted in accordance with the needs and characteristics of each of the institutions.
