Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between UT and the Local Government of the Regency of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan

Universitas Terbuka once again expands its collaboration with the Local Government of the Regency of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan, North Sulawesi Province. This cooperation is realized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday (25/5/2022) at Wisma 2 Building, Universitas Terbuka’s head office.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between UT and the Local Government of the Regency of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan, North Sulawesi Province was executed by Vice Rector for Institutional Development and Partnership, Rahmat Budiman, M.Hum., Ph.D., and the Regent of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan, H. Iskandar Kamaru, S.Pt., who was, during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, also accompanied by Deputy Regent of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan, Deddy Abdul Hamid, and Dean of UT’s Faculty of Law, Social Sciences and Political Sciences, Dr. Sofjan Aripin, M.Si., and it was witnessed by all the invitees and guests in the ceremony.

In his remarks, Rahmat Budiman stated that with this collaboration, UT is expected to be able to contribute in the development of human resources, particularly in upgrading the education qualifications for the Civil Servants or Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN), teachers, as well as the people of the Regency of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan. Rahmat Budiman also added that UT offers high education services at affordable tuition, as well as by relatively easy learning methods. It is expected that it would be able to promote the interest of the people of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan to obtain reasonable higher education.

Subsequently, the Regent of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan, H. Iskandar Kamaru, S.Pt., stated that the collaboration with UT will be focused on improving the quality of teaching staff members across the Regency of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan, in particular, the teachers of Early Childhood Education or Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD). Iskandar added that currently out of 257 teachers across the Regency of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan, there are only 81 who hold bachelor’s degrees. Iskandar also appreciates UT which has been able to implement the Distance Education (PJJ) program prior to COVID-19 pandemic. It makes UT one of the universities that continues to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, the event continued with taking picture of the participants as well as concluded with a campus tour by visiting the Building of Center for Teaching Material Management (PUSLABA) and the Building of Center for Multimedia Development (P2M2). In his visit to P2M2 Building, the Regent and Deputy Regent of Bolaang Mongondow Selatan had the opportunity to express their appreciation and hope in the cooperation with UT on the live streaming UT Radio.
