Signing of Cooperation Agreement bewteen East Java UPN Veteran and UT For Learning Quality Improvement

As the pioneer of open and distance education since its first operation in 1984, Universitas Terbuka (UT) continues to innovate by utilizing technology as an education tool. Many universities in Indonesia, both private and state, are currently working together with UT in order to adopt distance education system and improve their graduate qualities so they can be independence.

Taking venue at Technopark Building of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran, East Java (UPN Veteran Jatim) on the date of 30 September 2021, the Rector of UPN Veteran Jatim signed a Cooperation Agreement on the tridharma perguruan tinggi or basic three principles fof universities with UT’s Rector.

The Rector of UPN Veteran Jatim, Prof. Dr. Ir. Akhmad Fauzi., MMT., IPU. In his remarks saud that UT’s curriculum is excellent. “Yes, we set UT as an example today. As in the past UT was underrated and regarded as the second class university, but today UT is the first and foremost. We have to emulate UT,” he said. It was also stated that this cooperation is expected to make both universities synergize in terms of learning technology and resources of the respective university. It is also mentioned that there are three UPN Veteran employees who are currently studying in UT through UT-Surabaya. Moving forward, the employees of UPN Veteran Jatim who wish to pursue their education can be channeled to UT.

UT is the intiator of distance learning. Hence, the Rector of UPN Veteran Jatim hopes that UT would be able to provide the education for UPN Veteran Jatim’s lecturers, so that they can provide the best services throughout their distance education. “We can share our knowledge with UT because UT is the leader in distance learning. On one hand, we are also ready to help making the modules thatcan be used”.

In his remarks, UT’s Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D. welcomed the UPN Veteran Jatim Rector’s wishes, “So there are programs from Pak Rector of UPN Veteran Jatim who would like improve education quality of his teaching staff in UT. Thus, we (UT) are here to facilitae their education without being absence from their works.”
