STIE IPWI Jakarta Visit To UT Again

Referring to the memorandum of understanding between Universitas Terbuka (UT) and the College of Economics Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi STIE IPWI Jakarta which was entered into and signed yang last year, the President of the College of Economics Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi STIE IPWI Jakarta once again visited UT in order to hold further discussions regarding the cooperation which was taking venue at Wisma 2 Building, on Wednesday (14/04/2021).

In his speech, the Rector of Universitas Terbuka (UT), Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., expressed that he sincerely welcomes the follow-up actions by the College of Economics Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi STIE IPWI Jakarta. Ojat added that, at the moment, UT together with a number of its counterparts has developed Indonesia Cyber Education (ICE) Institute which serves as the learning center for the national online marketplace together with a number of other online university course providers.

Subsequently, in his remarks, the President of College of Economics Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi STIE IPWI Jakarta, Besar Agung Martono, was thanking UT for the opportunity given that allowed it to further discuss with the UT on the continued process that would be followed by a Cooperation Agreement. Agung stated that College of Economics Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi STIE IPWI Jakarta really looks to have the opportunity to learn more from UT in relation to the development of Open and Distance Education or pendidikan jarak jauh (PJJ), and thus, College of Economics Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi STIE IPWI Jakarta would eventually be able to operate its own online courses.

Aminudin Zuhairi, Ph.D., as the chief lector, gave a presentation on open and distance education, in general, and additionally, about the forms of businesses that UT undertakes. Amminudin explained that the challenges in the development of Open and Distance Education (PJJ) are to maintain the education program quality and to continue the education development at all times. Today, 30% Indonesian people, aged from 24 to 60 years old, are in their productive ages, and they are still required to pursue higher education. This has become the potential targets for UT and its counterparts in the development of Open and Distance Education (PJJ) in the country. According to Aminudin, UT has helped the people of Indonesia in providing equal, fair, and evenly distributed access to higher education in Indonesia.
