FHISIP Held its First International Conference

The School of Law, Social Science and Political Science or FHISIP, the Indonesia Open University or Universitas Terbuka held an International Conference, called Open Conference 2018 with the theme of Social Political Challenges in Industrial Revolution 4.0 at Universitas Terbuka Convention Center (UTCC), Pondok Cabe, Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan, on Thursday (15/11/2018). This event is aimed to view the social and political challenges in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 which will not only generate benefits to the communities, but also pose challenges to the society. The program was a means for the discussion which gather the speakers, academicians, researchers and practitioners from various scientific backgrounds and institutions.

Yudi Efendi, S.S., M.A., the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for this International Conference Open Conference 2018 conveyed that there were 60 working papers presented by a number of researchers from various institutions. This event is the first International Conference organized by the School of Law, Social Science and Political Science or FHISIP and this event is expected to be held annually. In the future, more researchers would be able to participate and discuss matters related to their researches conducted in order to generate the real benefits to the society. Dr. Sofyan Arifin, M.Si. the Dean of the School of Law, Social Science and Political Science, the Indonesia Open University or FHISIP-UT urged the participants to share constructive ideas to the society in utilizing the technology in order to realize product innovations which widely benefit the public by looking at the existing potential aspects.

The program was officially opened by Prof. Drs. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., UT President. In his speech, he called that it is necessary to pay attention to the social and political system so that the policies and regulations may accommodate the emerging challenges in this Industrial Revolution 4.0. The event continued to the panel discussion which engaged four resource speakers from various institutions and fields, i.e. Peter Carey, Prof. Lim Lee Ching, Dr. Robertus Robert and Rahmat Budiman, Ph. D who were moderated by Muhammad Husni Arifin, Ph. D. The discussions brought forward the issues arising in the society related to the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Later, Analyzing Data with Power BI was also presented by Ari Aswin.

The presenters presented their researches in parallel discussion sessions at UTCC Building and All-Purposes Building or Gedung Serba Guna. At the end of the event, there were named three best working paper presenters, i.e. Jean A. Saludadez on The Countermeasures of Cyber Bullying Based on Routine Activity Theory, Susanti on the Government Leadership Roles in Implementing the Innovation of Local Region Regency of Kupang In the Era of Industrial Revolution and Budi Sutrisno on Blackchain and Cryptocurrency: The Technology Roles Toward Financial Inclusion.
