Doctoral Program for UT’s Lecturers at University of Dundee

Universitas Terbuka (UT) and University of Dundee (UoD) agree to enter into a cooperation in research education in order to upgrade the UT’s lecturers’ qualifications. Through its Professional Development Unit or Unit Pengembangan Profesi (UPP), UT collaborates with UoD that will provide the opportunity to pursue higher study to the doctorate programs for its civil servant lecturers in UT campus.

The meeting held by UT and UoD was mainly for the socialization on the study implementation at the University of Dundee which was organized online through Zoom Meeting on Wednesday, 15 June 2022.

University of Dundee presented Prof. Michael Gratzke, Director of the Doctoral Academy; Prof. Kim Dale, the Deputy Vice-Principal for International; Joanna Qiu of the Global Partnership; and Dr. Sandra Oza of the Doctoral Academy.

The presentation by University of Dundee illustrated a number of items. Firstly, the first reason that the University of Dundee is the best choice for pursuing postgraduate study is because Dundee is the City of Graduates in Scotland with many facilities that support the study activities of its students. Secondly, the research conducted at the University of Dundee. University of Dundee offers more than 100 research projects that can be taken by the prospective students. Thirdly, the supports provided by UoD to its post-graduate students to create their career-mapping in the future. Apart from that, UoD takes parts in providing assistance to build quality Curriculum Vitae (CV).

This socialization program is closed with a question-and-answer session where UT’s lecturers responded enthusiastically. Various questions on Dundee and University of Dundee were raised to the speakers. One of which was regarding the costs of living and the international communities in. Joanna Qiu said that the living costs in Dundee are relatively low compared to those in other cities. She also added that the post-graduate students in UoD are allowed to work for 20 hours per week, that can work both on-campus and off-campus. In addition to that, University of Dundee also facilitates and provides its students with DUSA (Dundee University Student’s Association) which is the association that builds the global students community.
