Virtually Held Silaturahmi of the Universitas Terbuka’s Big Family

This year’s Eid al-Fitr is celebrated while we are still in Covid-19 pandemics so we are unable to get together with our beloved families and relatives for family gathering or silahturahmi. Moreover, there is a home-coming travel ban (larangan mudik) for the sake of the prevention of the spread of covid-19 virus. Like in the previous years, the tradition which Indonesia Open University or Universitas Terbuka (UT) has always performed after the celebration of the Eid al-Fitr or Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1 Syawal 1442 H is to hold a non-formal gathering, called Halal Bihalal. This year’s Halal Bihalal is done virtually through Zoom Meeting platform, in a bid to limit face-to-face activities. This Halal Bihalal which was held on Monday (24/5/2021) was participated by all the University’s senior officials and employees online.

Starting with the remarks by the UT’s Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., who expressed his feeling of gratitude as we are still able to get together in the silaturahmi event with all the senior officials and employees of Universitas Terbuka. In the Halal Bihalal held virtually, the UT’s Rector said that it is necessary to have the meaningful content and learning content full of wisdom which are really needed for us to serve ourselves for the nation and the institution of Universitas Terbuka, as the victuals in undertaking a better future life and as to how we can love and care for each other in our work environments.

Present in the virtual meeting, the clergyman as well as patron of the Islamic Boarding School Pondok Pesantren Raudlatut Thalibin, KH. Ahmad Mustofa Bisri (Gus Mus), who hopes that fasting and other religious observations that we have performed during the month of Ramadan would make us a better person both in terms of our relationship with other human being and in respect of our position as the creation of Allah SWT so that we can be more pious, just and fair as well as more muhsinin that we can apply in our practical life in the future.
