The 25th Knowledge Sharing Forum (KSF) Bringing Up the Theme of Today’s Kartini

On Tuesday (26/04/2022) Indonesia Open University or Universitas Terbuka (UT) once again held the 25th Knowledge Sharing Forum (KSF) virtually through Zoom Meeting platform and YouTube Channel UT TV in order to improve the understanding and knowledge on Distance Education System, Technology, and Management for university lecturers, students, and public.  This KSF brought up the theme of “Today’s Kartini or Kartini Masa Kini” which was attended by two presenters, Prof. Dr. Hj. Rina Indiastuti, S.E., M.SIE, the Rector of Padjajaran University and Prof. Dr. Nyayu Khodijah, the Rector of State Islamic University UIN Raden Fatah Palembang.

The program was opened by the remarks of UT’s Rector Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D. In his address, he stated that the issues on gender equality is one of the four main priority issues that Women 20 Presidency G20 Indonesia brought forward. According to him, woman success is not seen merely by what she is successful with today, yet it should be seen on how her sons and daughters are more successful in the days to come. He hopes that this activity would provide the knowledge and motivation for women as the today’s woman hero Kartini in order to continually contribute and work for advancing Indonesia.

The materials presented by Prof. Dr. Hj. Rina Indiastuti, S.E., M.SIE are on the gender equality that has equal opportunity to that of man, whereas the women also have the obligations that they have to benefit others, not only for their families but also for the people around them, the nation, and the state.

The material presentation continued with Prof. Dr. Nyayu Khodijah who, interestingly, briefly talked about gender equality from religious points of view in Islam. It is mentioned in Surah Al-Hujuraat: 13, which means that “Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you”. From this verse, it can be concluded that it is not the gender of a person that determines, instead it is seen from her or is piety according to Islam religion. This Knowledge Sharing Forum (KSF) activity continued with a question-and-answer session which finally concluded the program.
